Prof. Mitch Charkiewicz joined CCSU in 2002 after working in operations at IBM and coming over after responsibility for 24x7 Internet financing for Priceline.com.  While in the Economics Department, Mitch has been nominated for the Excellence in Teaching Award for five consecutive years.   His current research interest is that of the economic impact of the new lock system project currently underway for the Panama Canal.  He has developed experiential course abroad programs for both undergraduates and graduates to Iceland (Global Climate Change), Panama (Impact of the Panama Canal), Monaco (History and Development of the EU) and Scotland (Scottish Enlightenment).
