Course Description:

 

Applications in economics and business of differential calculus, basic integral calculus, maxima and minima, and linear algebra.

2.      Economic Models (Chapter 2)

3.      Matrix Algebra and Its Applications (Chapters 4 & 5)

4.      Differentiation and Its Applications (Chapters 7 & 10)

5.      Unconstrained Optimization and Its Applications (Chapter 9)

6.      Constrained Optimization and Its Applications (Chapter 12)

7.      Economic Dynamics and Integral Calculus (Chapter 14)

 

Textbook:

Alpha C. Chiang, FUNDAMENTAL METHODS OF MATHEMATICAL ECONOMICS, 4th Edition.  New York: McGraw-Hill, 2005.

 

Evaluation:

 

1.      Students are required to attend classes regularly.  Excessive absences may result in a lower grade.

2.      Evaluation of the course is based on:  1) class participation, 2) homework assignments, and 3) several quizzes and the final examination.  The final examination is comprehensive.
